Ya, I am not planning on removing the cat either. I was thinking that if I put the DP on, I would have the Diesel tech at Ford do it after he did the three recalls that are out (or going to be out shortly). For some reason, I feel better about having the diesel teck at Ford install the DP then someone else. Which by the way, he thinks that the DP would be a good idea.
If you have an MBRP and want to stay stock volume wise keep the cat in place. If you want to hear the engine "talk" get the cat test pipe, it only works on cat back systems though as Ford's ball & socket flange is pretty variable in size from truck to truck. If yuo really like the engine sound and the turbo get the cat test pipe and the muffler delete. I am running the duals and test pipe on a early 11-02 build 2003 and it's awesome, but then agian I live and breath diesel too!
If you have any questions call us we'll be glad to help.
mark i have a dumb question. what will you gain from a noise reference if you put the mbrp muffler in backwards? i think i read this on the diesel stop but cant remember why.
Mark,
Thanks for the feedback. On my 05, the goal was more whistle and a bit more roar. My install is a single, cat back (I have the DP but did not install, PS. Nice welds) installed (CC LB) with the muffler in the slat open to the rear.
Net result from install is: not much if any increase in whistle, and a bit more roar. Question is, how much will an 05 really increase in whistle if the kitty leaves the building?
I wanted to do my muffler delete today but I can't find anyone with 4" I.D. pipe......only 4" O.D.
Anyone have any ideas who might carry something off the wall like that? I'd order it online (and will if I have to) but I wanted to change it out this weekend.

Call MBRP. I'm pretty sure they have the muffler delete tube just for their systems. You could also look for a diesel performance shop in your area. There's three or four within a hundred miles of my place.. I can't imagine that there's not a specialty Diesel shop somewhere in Dallas.
But I think for the thirty bucks or so, it's worth going through MBRP for the correct part.
I'm out of town next weekend, so I really wanted it done this weekend. I called all the diesel performance shops in Houston and no luck. What I think I'm going to do is pull the MBRP muffler, cut the ends off (its 4" ID) and have them weld them to 4" OD at a local shop who has the OD. That should work great, save me some time and $. The only problem with that is if its too loud, or sounds like crap, I've no muffler to put back on.
NOW IF IT WOULD JUST STOP RAINING SO I CAN WORK ON IT!!!!!
