First and foremost (and from what I've read), the V10 folk don't like that "Tornado" fuel saver. It doesn't really do anything but slow the air down and kill your mileage. You're better off using a drop in K&N filter or a cold air intake if you want better mileage; just keep your foot out of it. But don't take my word for it, a few of the V10 owners will be along to better answer your questions.

Well.....great mileage will NEVER be the strong suit of a 7600 pound 10 cylinder vehicle...but you already knew that.

For me recent trip towing the trailer, I ran my tires up to 50-60F-R, which I am sure helps a bit.

The other thing I have found is that keeping it under 70 MPH...which is right at 2000RPM. This makes a big difference.

The best I have seen (no trailer) on mixed driving was low 10s...worst in the winter with remote start and city driving was mid 7s. Best towing has been 8.5.

I have a 2000 x with a 10 cil. Tornado did nothing for my fuel mileage either. Changed the plugs at 75,000...no difference in mileage. Added teflon additive...no dif. Changed to synthetic oil...no dif. Tried adding acetone to my gas...no dif. Drove 70 rather than 75-80...mileage went up from 13.8 to 14.8. Did a BG injector and top engine flush...no dif.

Basically, nothing I did helped my in town mileage. Driving under 70 increased my highway mileage.

Every post about mileage, whether claims or how to improve... makes me smile. Every product that I see that claims to improve mileage also makes me smile. These are 6.8L gas engines that get what they get.

Ways to improve mileage are to make sure your tires are properly inflated, easy on the starts and stops, eliminate excess baggage and little used items from the vehicle, and so on.....

Take care

Kinda funny how it never dawns on folks that jack-rabbit starts, not anticipating stops and letting the vehicle coast a little longer and just plain reducing their speed simply eludes them. There are no,nil, zero, nada products on the market as effective as this yet they spend tons of money on them. And yes, what Btravelen said about tire pressure is dead ***** on accurate. My '02 V-10 Ex consistantly gets in the mid 13 mixed and 15.5 highway not towing.

Think a free-er flowing exhaust/cat system and intake mods would help? I just got an 01 EX last night and LOVE it, regardless of the fuel mileage. I was just glad to see that there's only a couple cat's on this one, as opposed to 5 (!) that were on the Ranger I traded in.

I get a consistant 15.1 w/o the air conditioner, 14.9 w/air @74 mph, any octane.
City I get ~13 my wife gets about 10, driving style differences. I like to coast, it'll roll a mile or more. Optimal speed is about 43 mph, right after the OD kicks in. Another gas saver is don't idle. I think idling uses as much gas as cruising at 45 in OD.

Took a trip to Las Cruces, NM from Tucson over holiday weekend. I averaged 14.86 (long hand) @ 78 MPH w/air on and cruise activated. I run about 60-65 psi in 285-75-16s. In town is around 9. Best milage recorded was 15.5, winter.

Best mileage on my 2002 4x4 was 14.4 on a trip with my whole family and lots of gear traveling consistently @ 75 -80 mph.

typical commuting mileage about 11- 12.

I have no after market changes to intake or exhaust. I do keep my air filter clean. I dont think there is any quick fix and agree with fomoco_1 that driving habits make a big difference...
