So my first truck purchase I'm looking for a 99-2001 F250 with a PSD and short box. I wanted a crew at first, but reading somethings about gas guzzlin' I thought more about a supercab.
My biggest concern is that I'm going to be making a few roadtrips and plan on sleeping in the back of the truck under a cap. Or even when I'm out deer hunting crash in the back of the truck.
My question arises, if I'm going to sleep in back all my stuff is going to be in the cab. Obviously the crew is bigger, but I remember seeing a picture somewhere of a crew or supercab rear set folded out flat. I'm asking because I could just sleep in the cab of the truck and pile even more crap into the bed, bags - guns - bow & arrow.
Unless the extra (14"s I think) wheelbase length is a concern then you will always wish you had the CC. I know I do. So do many of the SC owners I have talked to. Besides, the SC rear seat is not very comfortable.
I would definantly consider a crewcab. I have an 01 supercab shortbox. The fuel mileage difference between the two is probably very very little. Driving habits would make a bigger difference. When I was looking to buy, I wanted a crewcab but somehow ended up with a supercab lol My 01 rear seats don't fold flat, the bottom cushions fold up.
99F250 Crew Cab long bed. The only way to go especially if you have people getting in and out of the back seat. My brother has a 2001 SC F250 and we get the same mileage. The back seat on the SC is made for a kid for any kind of comfort.
94 to 97 will fold flat. I have owned 3 crew cabs and a 99 supercab. I will always buy Crewcab from now on, it is much more room and comfortable on the rear passangers, plus behind the seat storage, also you can probably find a seat that makes into a bed. I am planning on converting my rear seat to slide out to a bed mode, just gotta get around to that project at some point... My sister has a 96 that folds flat but rear doors were not added to supercabs till the 99 style which is even more of a pain if u buy and older super cab
With a little bit of carpentry skills, you can easily build a removable frame insert (with storage), and add a fitted cushion, to the rear passenger foot area, to turn the CC back into a comfy-bed.

Comments appreciated.
Thanks,

I have a Supercab, I wish I had a Crew....Just so much more room. No question in my mind! I even tried to trade mine in on an 05 Crewcab, that's how much I wish I had it.
Thanks for comments, to the people who are FORD enthusiasts and know more than me -- could you take a 94-97 rear seat and install it into a crew so it could fold out? Or would it be easier to make a small wooden or aluminum frame and have a cushion fitted into it?

Am I mising something? On my 99.5' sc rear sear, the bottom folds forward then the back folds down. This makes a totaly flat surface. Was this a odd year thing?

Is this type of seat switchable with the 2000 and up. I totally wish I had gone with the Crew versus the super.

where in MI are you hunting and fishing?
I am in Chicago
I have a 2002 F-350 Supercab and would def get a CREW CAB if I could do it again, the crew cab is a better fit for adults and more cargo room, too, my supercab is OK, def better than a std cab for sure
get the long bed, easier to get all your big cargo to fit, the shorter bed is just not big enough
