Didn't Believe It

Well I just made my 1700 mile trip from CA to NE with my 68 F100. I decided to track my mileage just to see how the new Holly performs and coming thru the salt flats at 65-70 I got an oustanding 18 MPG. I about fell outta the seat. I didnt know the truck had it in her. ( 360 w/ C6 ). After that if varied due to my heavy foot just wanting to get home! But I still averaged an overall of 15 MPG. Anyone else have such luck? Just curious.

my old 72 390 I had got 15, which I found amazing myself. Got six when the four barrels were applied. Actually see the gas guage drop as you watch.

I had a 73, 302 that also got 15mpg

My 1981 300 gets 21.

That is real good for a 360. I didn`t get quite that good but mine were never tuned up that well. I might get 18 or so with my 69 F100 with a 302 C6 but it has some what lower rear set of gears. Don`t want to find out and get all depressed about it.

I finally took my 72 w/360 out on the highway for a long weekend. This was the first time she ran at 75 for long periods. I got 15 mpg for the first time ever. I had been getting 11-12 around town. I've rebuilt my carb but it still leaks from the butterfly shaft. It's just old. I wonder if a new one would do better.
