Friends and neighbors (both to the South and the North) -
There comes a point in Redneck developement when we must ask ourselves if we are worthy. And to satisfy that a number of challenges await us.
Among these are those centered around the barbeque grill, and like many other occupations there are certain check off items that need to be fulfilled in order to prove your worthiness!
Looking at my list I see that there are a few questions I should resolve for all time, and tonight I intend to deal with 4 of them:
1) Have you ever barbequed in the dark?
2) Have you ever barbequed when it was raining?
3) Have you ever used a smoker instead of a regular barbeque?
4) CAN YOU BARBEQUE A PIZZA???

There will be pictures along with this, but I have started this at the same time the coals are beginning to glow!

What you see here, is a smoker with an upside down pizza pan on top of it, and a grill laid over it to make an air space...

And here we see the temperature about right...

We about to get it all on...

Oh yeah, Uh-huh...
Crispy crust, well done
That was my work!
- Good job by me...
The neighbors said I was crazy!
But a country boy can survive...
(Amen)
As a matter of fact - it was not only plenty hot all the way through, but the crust was PERFECT.
With the pizza pan upside down like that (extra big one with rounded up edges that I got at Walmart) the hot metal makes the bottom of the pizza extra crispy.
-Next time I'll turn the pan the other side up so there's more space under the pizza (less heat directly on the crust) and see how that comes out.
I also wanna do a stuffed crust pizza, and maybe a Calzoni...
Recipe: "Redneck Calzoni"
Take 2 pepperoni pizzas, lay one out and add lots of extra cheese and whatever other goodies you want on it.
Lay the other pizza on top, and let them thaw out until you can pinch the edges together all the way around.
Barbeque as above, then flip it over (CAREFULLY!!!) and let cook another ten minutes or until crust is crispy on top AND bottom.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 15-Apr-02 AT 03:49 PM (EST)]Wolf, are those your grill tools in that barrel? Dark, yes; Rain, yes, no to smoker or pizza, just a purist I guess. How about cooking burgers on a shovel, any points towards a Masters Degree for that? A buddy and I went camping and he forgot the grill. Shovelburgers, mmmm..mmmm...good!
Even though that link is pretty funny, that is just a good example of why I moved away from the city and the ever so over developed suburbs to the country. To avoid nosey neighbors. Although what that guy is doing is probably very inexcusable, Its just nice when people can mind their own business.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 28-Dec-02 AT 12:58 PM (EST)]That's nuts! I have nearly earned my redneck master degree, but never like that! By the way, can you substitute grilled lobsters for the grilled pizza?
>Wanna see what white trash rednecks do for barbeque-in?
>check out this guys neighbor....

have you ever thought of using one of those pizza stones? Also, does it count if their is snow on the ground, for the rain thing? I don't think it was actually snowing, but it was dark and the middle of winter and we were outside lol. X-mas actually, we had steak.
It's probably not a good idea to try this after you used the shovel to clean out the barn. Recycling is a very good idea, but I don't see the need to take it to that extreme.
Dark: yes
Rain: yes
Snow on the ground: yes
Pizza: no, but have done deer burgers, pheasant, quail, ducks, and squirrel. Also have used the tool box as a counter top. Seemed natural, as I had the grill set up in the truck bed.
