I have a P0171 code on my 99 F-150 V6. I also have a Ford Service Manual on CD. Where are the OBDII codes located in the CD? I wanted to get some more information about it. I will be checking my MAF Sensor and vaccuum lines and will clear the code by disconnecting my battery. I read somewhere that it would be highly impossible for my O2 sensor to go out.
I cleaned my K&N air filter and the MAF section of my breather assembly really good and replaced both the pcv and the hose. I saw where the pcv hose was getting ready to crack when I squeezed on it. I reset my computer and drove the truck around locally for about 20 minutes and no light. I hope that fixed it.
I've also had this trouble code (1998 F150 4x4, 4.6L), sometimes one bank too lean, sometimes the other, sometimes both at the same time. Started out doing it at higher rpms so started by replacing the fuel filter, then the pressure regulator, then the fuel pump. Replacing the fuel pump made it run much better, but then the same trouble codes started coming up at low rpms, found the pcv hose at the back of the intake manifold slightly cracked, repaired it Saturday, replaced pcv valve, drove around for an hour, no light, wife drove it 10 minutes this morning and light came on. Haven't checked the trouble code yet, but suspect its the same. Next on list, clean throttle body and air by-pass valve.
