well, my transfer case is officially screwed. ive had a feeling that it was stuck in four low, so i pulled the rear shaft today and locked the hus, and whille in two wheel drive, it drove on the front tires. well duriing my test drive, i came around a corner, and then engine revvs and i dont move. well i stopped, and try shifting the case, nothing but grinding. so, i walked back to my house, grabbed the rear shaft, put it back on and drove home. how many gears does an aod have? i can count 4, and its revving like crazy at 45. the case is a borg warner, the numbers off the back are 13 56 039 907. ive also got two np 208 cases, could i put one of them in there?
you should be able to direct swap the np 208 in place if I remember correctly, that would be an easy fix. Only thing I can think of is some used a slip type rear yolk, and some used the bolt on yolk so as long as the NP 208 has the same type rear output setup as the borgwarner no problem.
might be easier to find a junkyard that will trade ya for the right case or use a driveshaft out of something else that is a 2 piece shaft, thats what I did on the race truck cause I didn't want the slip type of output shaft ont eh Tcase.
If the bolt pattern matches up you could bolt the np208 on it, or get an adapter. I also do not know if the splines for the yoke on the driveshaft would match up to the 208.
you have a BW 1356 case. the NP208 cases where used in the 80+ trucks too. so it should work on your truck. just my need the tranny to case adap. for the 208.
