Question My compression test - Pls comment

My compression test results

1 - 90 psi
2 - 80 psi
3 - 90 psi
4 - 85 psi
5 - 90 psi
6 - 85 psi

My EGR is making a hmm / vibrating noise after I shut off the engine. (not sure if that is normal)

Let me know your thoughts. Thank you.

Seems a little on the low side of normal. How many miles??
Was that with all the plugs removed and the throttle open.

I had consistant 150-145 on my 85 with 109K. That's better than average.

That was...

1. Remove coil wire
2. Take one plug out.
3. Crank it over about 5 times. (No touch the gas).

That's why. Take all the plugs out and burry the pedal to the floor. It will spin over faster and let more air in.

then you'll get the true reading.

ps. I have family in Oshawa they work at the GM rail yard.

I will try that. Read the proceedure in the Haynes (after of course) and it also mentions killing the fuel flow with the inertia switch.

Ps. Rail yard is one block from work. My dad retired with 40 years from GM and I worked there as a student. One summer (1990) I spent 2 weeks in the railyard. (never really got to meet any of the employees though)

I don't know much about how to disable the inertia switch i'm Carbed.

My uncle and a cousin are forman for the Railyard and my other cousin drives GM trucks from the factory to the trains. He took me down there once it was neat.

Okay...

Lowest was 142.
Highest was about 149.

The only thing I noticed was that the pressure guage didn't jump right to 14x on the first crank.
It jumped up each time for three cranks and then maxed at the setting.

Like 100 125 140 ....if you now what I mean.

Yup. That's how it's supposed to be.

Sounds like your rings are in good shape.
