When the 2005 models were introduced, some of the brochures indicated that the higher HP Triton engines were being put in the SD trucks, and the front end on the SD trucks was "redesigned". I presumed this was to eliminate some of the design flaws that has spawned the aftermarket replacement parts industry.
Neither of these improvements were made to the Excursion supposedly because they were on borrowed time. I was set to buy a 2005, but backed out because of Ford's decision. Since we are all "family", I am reconsidering my decision. Now that the last build date has been extended to September 2005 (?), have either of these improvements been incorporated into the Excursion, and if so, what was the approximate changeover date. Thanks.
Ditto your questions / hopes. I wish Ford would put coils on 4x4 and add brake controller to the X as well. I would definitely trade my 03 up if they did.
This just proves you can't win- on the pickup board some of the guys are annoyed that Ford switched to coil springs instead of sticking to the leaf variety (design flaws are in the eye of the beholder). Neither upgrade happened, or, unfortunately, will they ever.
