Drivers seat adjustable lumbar
My 2000 xlt with cloth 60/40 seats has the adjustable lumbar support--a **** you turn to inflate some type of balloon inside the seat. This has stopped working lately and I was curious if it is a simple fix or adjustment, or requires a total seat teardown to repair. Any advice??

I really think it is a cable that pulles on a flexible plate behind the seat cloth. Maybe your cable broke or came off. I hate the lumbar supports, and leave them flat, it was giving me lower back pain. Good luck.

Trapperon - it sounds like your cable is broken. To replace this you will need to remove the seat from the pickup and take the back off of it (there's two bolts on the sides) and then get the cover off of the back and then you will be able to see how the lumbar support works, and you will probably end up replacing the whole thing. I don't remember how much the part costs though (it was awhile ago when we did mine). Good luck

I might also point out that the lumbar support does not exactly push out, but kinda' gets stiffer. If you are sitting against it, it doesn't move much, but if you sit up it will expand. Then when you lean back it will provide more support.
At least that's how it is on my 2001. At first I didn't think it was working because it doesn't really push out like my Buick.
