Hey guys, My dads 97 F350, e40d, stock except he has a hyper tech single bank chip in, has a noise I cant figure out. It sounds to me like a exhaust leak on a gasser. It has gotten louder over the last couple weeks. You can only here it when the engine is under load. Such as accelerating or revving while holding the brake in drive. Ya can't here the noise when ya are looking under the hood but seems louder and possibly coming from under the truck. I just guessing but could it be the flex plate???... Tranny was fresh rebuilt a year ago. Any other idea's welcome. Truck runs fine, no smoke, fuel consuption is normal and dosen't have a noticable power loss. I'm kinda stumped... Thanks for any help...............

About 150,000. I see a little black soot on the manifold-up pipe connection. I dunno, I have a hard time seeing that as the problem but it could be. Its just a little to loud for me to think its a exhaust leak. Thanks for the reply!
You have a leaking turbo hose or clamp. What you are hearing is the boost pressure. Check all of the rubber hoses on the cold air side of the turbo and charge air cooler. Sometimes one of the pipes could have a hole it frome something rubbing on it, but that is rare.
Hope this helps.

Its a 97, no charge air(innercooler). Thanks though.
Im gonna check into the exhaust leak a little more tonight.
How hard is it to replace up pipes donuts???
the 2 tubes that feed the turbo wear and cause a leak at the rear of the turbo.you will need the y that bolts to the back of the turbo, 2 tubes ,2 doughnut gaskets and new bolts.when you take the tubes out the bolts break.good luck.
