any tips or things I need to watch for...also is it just as simple as unscrewing the cartridge and putting a new one in or do you need to purge air somehow? First time changing it myself...oh yeah 02 PSD...
Thanks

Pretty straight forward change. Make sure the engine is not running (just kidding). Unscrew the lid using an oil filter wrench. Remove the old filter and make sure you get the o-ring that was on the bottom of the filter. Sometimes it will stay in the housing. Place a container under the truck and drain the remaining fuel out of the housing. There is a yellow fuel drain lever on the side of the housing, you turn it to drain the fuel. Clean out the bottom of the housing if there is any crud in there. Install the new filter and lid gasket and tighten the lid. Close the drain valve. Cycle the ignition swith on for about 10 seconds without starting the truck (do this 4-5 times to prime the housing). Start the vehicl and check for leaks. Pat yourself on the back and drink a cold one (this last step is the most important). Good luck.

Had to chuckle at step one. Nice touch.

You know some lawyer would zap you if you left it out.

Check the screen on the side of the housing, make sure it is clean before you install the new filter.

I've been all my filters from Baldwin, But when I'm not stocked, I get them from Napa.

If the new one comes with the cap already attached, DO NOT throw the factory one away. You may need it someday if you just use filter catridges. The cost about $10 or $12 to replace them.

Is there some type of hose on the drain? Or does it just run out everywhere? Thank you.

It just runs and makes a mess everywhere. You can add a small hose and clamp to direct it where you want it.

I got a fuel filter from Napa, it was a two-piece unit with the screen in front of the filter, no cap, though
when I removed the cap from the truck, the screen seemed to be attached to the cap and I just saw the filter in the bottom of the filter assembly
what is up with that?

You can get the same filter from us as you'd get from Napa, if you're interested.

If I understand what you are saying, the filter just came apart. Shouldn't be a problem. It just pulled loose from the cap didn't it?

Its not very environmentally friendly to just let the fuel drain on the ground. I attach a hose on the drain line and drain into a clean plastic container. That way I can inspect what comes out, and if its clean put it back in the tank. I know its not much fuel, but at the price of diesel I don't want to waste any.
