sorry I can't offer more than, the exact same thing is happening to me. I have had mine in the shop now three times, and I am NOT a complainer...otherwise it would have been in a lot more. First was the transmission...they replaced the entire valve cover, rear diff and solenoid. The next time took it in and they say "can't duplicate the problem" however, in the midst of looking at that and doing some routing maint. inspections they came back and told me I'd been driving around on a bad wheel bearing. Now I've got it back in there with the same slamming and some whining coming from my wheel area...expecting them to find more wheel bearing problems. Basically, it's like the transmission shoot the hell out of the rest of my car and things are starting to fall apart. So I'm in the process of filing a complaint with the Highway Safety Administration and have asked for a DBS application. Obviously my concern at this point is I'm 6,000 miles from being out of warrenty and things are falling apart that may or may not be directly related to the transmission, though there's a real good chance they are. Hopefully there is someone here who can offer some insight. Has anyone gone through the DSB process with the explorer?
