there was a crack in the other before hand, i have a buddy that works for ford and he put some syuff on there that fixed it. I was just wonderin what kind of money it is gonna cost me to fix the problem.
Cracked head? And now hydrolocked? Hmm, I'm thinking complete engine assembly. Who knows what else might be wrong with your current engine. I'm mainly concerned about any damage from the rings on down due to the incredible pressures that can be generated with a hydrolock. It will bend connecting rods if the conditions are right.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. Going to a reputable mechanic or the dealership is probably gonna set you back somewhere between $1500-$8500 depending on the extent of damage and the amount of parts and labor to fix it. Hard to give a good estimate without knowing what has to be done. Sorry for the bad news, but good luck.
i took it to the ford dealership in my area if it is gonna be 8500 i might trade it in before it gets fixed hell for that much i dont care if it is a 6.0 feel much better with a 100k warranty.
Let us know how it turns out, maybe it'll be an easy fix. I cratered one back in 96'. Drove through some low water (flooded while working in the valley) and found a trench. Sucked in some water and BINGO! $7500, a new engine, and it was back on the road. Hope yours turns out better than mine...
my service called me today and it ended up bein 1300 for a blown head gasket. How much is a headgasket for an 02 250?
See my earlier post about the bent rods, etc. I've personally seen broken ceramic around the center electrode on a spark plug due to hydrolocking. Ceramic is as hard as glass and it crumbled under the pressure.
I've seen a full set of bent rods on a 4 banger where the junkyard "mechanics" poured ATF into the intake while the engine is running to "preserve" the engine for a future sale.
You have exactly the same problem I do. Pulled the vc's off and all the glow plugs and when I cranked it, a ton of water sprayed out of #5 cylinder. Pulling the head tomorrow to see what's actually damaged. I kept starting mine after the problem started and burned up 4 starters in 3 days.
