WENT OUT TODAY TO FIND THE WIRE I'LL BE TAPPING INTO. LOCATED THE 12 PIN CONNECTOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE TRANSMISSION. FOLLOWED THE WIRING HARNESS COMING FROM THE CONNECTOR WANTING TO TAP IN AT THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. COMES OUT UNDER THE MASTER CYLINDER NEAR THE FIREWALL. THE WIRES RUN OVER THE TRANNY TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE THEN JOINS UP WITH MORE AND JOINS AGAIN WITH MORE AND FINALLY INTO ONE BIG PLASTIC CONDUIT AND RUNS ON UP TO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.
AT THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, UNDER THE MASTER CYLINDER THE WIRES COME OUT AND SEEM TO CLUMP OUT TO THREE SEPARATE PLUGS.
FOUND THE WIRE , I THINK , BUT.....THERE ARE TWO PURPLE WIRES WITH YELLOW TRACERS AT THIS POINT. THEY ARE BOTH IN THE SAME CLUMP.
WHICH WIRE DO I TAP INTO AND DO I HAVE TO TAP IN NEAR THE TRANNY BECAUSE NOT MUCH ROOM DOWN THERE

Your on the wrong connector. The one you want has a grey/red wire in the upper corner, and a orange/black in the other upper corner. This connector has only one violet/yellow wire on it. In my 2000 it's the connector closest to the front of the truck.
There are 4 connectors underneath the brake master cylinder. 3 black ones and one grey one
You want PIN-6 of the forward most GREY connector. Pinout is as follows:
(4) (3) (2) (1)
(8) (7) (6) (5)
(12)(11)(10)(9)
(16)(15)(14)(13)
Straight from the Guys website that I got it from.
Thanks You Guys......went Under The Truck And Tapped In Closer To The Tranny To Be Sure To Get The Right Wire. Thanks Touchofgrey And Dieselrod. Got The Mod To Work. Tested It Out By Bringing The Wire Into The Cab And Holding The Wire To A Ground While Driving. Could Feel The Tc Locking Up And Then Unlocking When Ungrounded. One Thing .....it Would Make My Overdrive Light Flash After Doing It, However The Light Would Stop Flashing After Turning The Motor Off And Then Restarting. Whenever I Would Lock The Tc Again The Light Would Blink Again...
Any Way To Stop The Overdrive Light From Blinking........

The OD light flashing is a normal PCM to transmission error indicator. It indicates that the PCM has lost some communication with the tranny. I'm not sure why taking the line to ground (the normal state when the PCM has the TC locked) would cause this; unless the PCM didn't have it locked at the time that you grounded the line. I don't recall anyone saying that this was an issue with this mod. Did you by chance unplug the connector to do the mod down at the transmission? If so, check it to make sure it is plugged in all the way. I'm in the process of installing the exhaust brake and TC lockup mods on my truck. I won't have it finished for a couple of days, or I'd have a more definate answer for you.

what brand of exhaust brake and T/C lockup are you going to install?

I'm just sorta "rollin my own"......I've built a circuit that will ground the converter control line when needed; and when switched the other way will allow the PCM to control it normally.
The second part of the system is just simply a poor man's Jake.....it uses the exhaust backpressure solenoid to close off exhaust to the turbine when you need some engine braking on grades. It's effective at RPMs above 2500......not so much below that. Kwikordead uses this brake, and says that he has used it through a pass fully loaded, and didn't have to use the service brakes at all. He doesn't use the TC lock though; because he has a standard. The way I see it, with the investment of a little of my time.....I can have another piece of equipment to assist in braking a load.
The brake and TC lock work very well, and are very cheap and easy to add to the truck. I hope this answers your question.
