I don't mind the check writing so much as long as the person has their checkbook OUT and all info filled in prior to the cashier finishing ringing. I REALLY hate it when the total is shown, THEN the person starts digging for the checkbook, fumbling for a pen, etc...

The worst is when the person behind you tries to get in close or just isn't paying attention, so you're left with no room to do anything and are stuck in between carts.

He says,"Seems like people could read the sign that says 12 items or less." so I say, "Sorry, the cashier told me to come on and get in this line." He procedes to keep mouthing about it. The cashier says, "Sir, I asked him to come here since we're busy and there was no-one in my line." This still isn't good enough for him, and he says something else about it. Mind you, I NEVER get into it with people, and I NEVER disrespect my elders, but he was still mouthing while she was bagging my stuff, so I finally turned and got in his face and said. "Good thing you're not buying much, cause you may not live long enough to eat it." He finally shut up. I got his point the first time. Talk about beating a dead horse...
I would have gone a step further and probably ate his food on the spot. LOL

I was in the grocery store the other day and bought some produce. The checkout girl (they're called checkout girls here because they hire the prettiest girls in town and you can't help but check them out). Anyway, the checkout girl was looking at the produce and complained "I wish they would put a sticker on everything!". The problem was she didn't know what asparagus was and it's a hassle to find the number on the cylinder mounted right in front of her. I told her that in the old days, 30 years ago, they did put a sticker on everything, a price sticker and it was on every can, box, bag, everything. I then told her about the cash registers they used back then. They had over a 100 buttons on them with different dollar and cent values. If an item cost $3.97, you had you push the buttons that added up to $3.97, then punch the big add button. Every item had to be entered this way. She just calmly replied "I don't think I would like that". It was all I could do not to shake her and scream "NOBODY WOULD LIKE THAT! IT TOOK 10 TIMES LONGER TO CHECKOUT THEN AND YOU HAD YOU KNOW HOW TO ADD! I DON'T THINK YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN QUALIFIED!". She was too cute to scream at though so I just sighed, swiped my debit card and left as quickly as I could because the little old lady behind me was shoving me from behind with her cart.

I would have taken his 3 items, paid for them, then thrown them on the ground, and stomped them, right in front of the guy.

How about the people that like to stand right behind you, and when I say right behind you I mean if you rock back just a tad you hit them. I can't stand it when people get that close to me, I have had that happen before when we were the only two in line--give a person some space!

When someone bumps me with their cart in line, i make some space. I just put my foot on the front of their cart a give a little push . Most of the time the person gets the message.
