Motorcycle Insurance

Anyone use Merkel American/Bikeline Insurance? I'm looking to save some money over my current insurer and their quote came in quite a bit less.

Anyone have any experience with them?

Don't know them. If you already have auto insurance, often they will give you a good quote since you are already a customer.

Good Luck,

Omni,is you son insured thru Proggresive or Gieco? they have the highest rates for sportbikes. Now I have no idea of you sons driving record, however it is not unheard of for a policy to cost between 3000-4000 a year!
StateFarm has awesome rates on bikes, the policy on my ZX-9R is less than 300 for a year. To get bike insurance from StateFarm you have to have an auto policy and they will not count a bike as a line item (no multi line discount) for a car and bike policy. Have him call an agent,it can't hurt!

USAA is now open to everyone. Use to be military only. I can't recommend them enough. They will save you money over everyone out there.

USAA is very good and DOES understand customer relations.
Something that seems to be missing in so much of business today!

280. a month is more than my bike payment. I'm paying 400. a year thru Harley Davidson which goes thru Dairyland. Don't know if I'm gonna keep them next year.

I was in the same boat when I first got my insurance for my bike thru the same place that I have my cars and house thru, $2600 a year with no tickets or accidents in over 10 years. I then went to State Farm and have my zx9r on a policy by itself for about $550 a year, they never said anything about having to have a car on the policy also.

I do have USAA. I joined them while in Officer Candidate School in 1993. I have no complaints with them. Great prices, super reputation and outstanding customer service.

I pay close to $615 a year for my 2004 F-150, and close to $540 for my 2001 HD Roadking. USAA insures by engine CC. So, the HD is 1450cc and is expensive to insure (its almost as much as my truck!).

Merkel quoted me 300 and change for the same coverage...

Single, 38 years old, no tickets/violations in over 10 years.

I have my vehicles and the house insured with State Farm. My '04 HD Fatboy is around $325/year. Progressive and HD/Dairyland both wanted over $600 to insure the Harley. Age 38, married, no tickets or violations.

Check with the Better Business Bureau about Merkel, and possibly ask folks in a local bike club or dealership to see if anyone's had any experience with them.
