i recently purchased a 77 f-250 crewcab i've been driving it for about 2 weeks maybe put 200 miles on it . while driving it home i was cruzin at about 55-60 mph and motor lost power. pickup still ran but i had to keep it to the floor to get 50 mph out of it. i had already replaced the inline filter checked the one on the carb when i got home both seemed to be fine. checked the plugs doesn't seem to be running lean looked ok. i let the truck cool down started it back up and ran fine until it warmed up, this baffles me a little because the truck had run for an hour before this occured the first time. i pulled the wires off one at a time to see if it was missing. 1-3-5 didn't seem to make a differance at idle. my question is would a miss on three cylinders happen all the sudden like this or could it be something else any thoughts would be appreciated
Check your ignition module. Take it to a parts store for testing. The modules are often heat/temperature sensitive.
Thanks for using FTE!

I had a problem like this once, the truck ran fine for a few minutes then down to 20 MPH. Let it set and it would be OK for a few more miles. It ended up being debris in the float bowl as the truck ran it sucked the junk over the main jets.Let it set and the junk would float away for a while.I dont know much about carbs but could one
main jet cloged cause 1,3&5 to miss?
an often overlooked, but common problem in the duraspark ignition system is the rotor button.i have had these things act from fuel starvation to 'limp mode" symptoms,to even changing the coil, for fear of heat related breakdown.try it, you may surprise yourself.
My 78 did pretty much the same thing. Driving down the road it would start missing and damn near stall.Let it sit for a few minutes an it would be fine for a while then do it again.I checked everything and finally found that the "sock" or filter in the tank was colapasing. and for a while I mean an hour or two. So that was the last thing on my list to check. Just my two cents worth though.....good luck

My 76 did the same ran good till it warmed up then started missing & running rough then finaly dieing. Everyone told me it was the ign. mod. as everything else checked out OK. I spent a few bucks figureing out it was the distributer. A friend told me how to test it but I've forgoten how.
