Pickup Box

I haven't been able to work on my truck for a couple of years now, just started getting back into it. Its a '69 F-250 4X4 LWB. All I have left to finish is rebuilding the transfer case and painting/installing the bed. A friend of mine gave me a bed off a '71 I think and it didn't look too bad a couple years ago, theres alot of holes that would need welded up. I started tearing into it this weekend and after cleaning out the bed found that the bottom of the bed is lined with 3/4" plywood. After starting to rip up the plywood there isn't much of the bed left underneath. Its pretty frustrating.
The question I have is will a 1/2 ton box bolt up to a 3/4 ton frame? I need to go searching for a better bed now. This ones in pretty bad shape. Thanks for the help.

According to my sources, both the F100 lwb and F250 were bot 131 inches. They should line up.

I put a 1/2 ton bed on a 3/4 ton pick up several years ago and it was a direct bolt in.

Thanks thats good to know. I went to one junk yard today but they didn't have any boxes that were in good shape. I'll have to try a couple more yards next week.
What year did they start putting the turn signals in the back sides of the beds?
Thanks

They make replacement bed sheets that you can weld in after cutting out your old sheet metal. I've seen them in one of the parts catalogs, LMC I believe. Just another way to go if you feel like it.

One possible complication that I experienced putting a 67 bed on a 69 chassis: the 69 (other years possibly) F250 has some fancy leaf spring configuration. I think it was called flex-0-matic or something like that. Anyway, the rear spring mount is more complex and it rides up a little higher and it hits the 67 bed on one of the structural cross-channels. I've temporarily elevated the bed using washers on the back bolts, but it will eventually have to fixed with a torch and welding some support back in that allows for the spring tops. just something to look at.
