Hey guy,
How come my driverside wing window soesent lock? The passenger side has the button on it that you have to depress in order to rotate the latch. The driver side doesten and that allowed someone to break into my truck and steal the 6x9's from behind my seat. Oh yeah its a 77 f-150 Ranger XLT
Any ideas.
David
I don't believe the locking ***** came out till 78 or 79. It would be interesting to know if they retrofit as a screw driver is all that's needed to pry mine up from the outside.
yup. their easy to change. just knock the roll pin out, and pull it off. then reverse to instal a locking one.. although i dont' see how they can be popped open....
Since it wasn't the locking kind they slid something between the wing window and the verticle edge and pushed the lever up.
Anyway thanks for the info
David
Well i tried swaping a locking latch for my old one and it didn't work. I got to looking at the rod it pivots on and they aren't quite the same. It looks like i will have to buy a whole new wing window unless somone knows a better way to do this.

I've seen guys take the wire bail off the master cylinder and use it to open the non-locking vent window latches. Works perfect and there's one on every pickup. Now, don't you wish you had a lock for your hood?
Its not just the latch i need but the rod it pivots on is different from the rod without the lock. Is there any way to change these rods without changing the entire window?
David
Without some kind of aftermarket lock those windows are a 30 second job for anyone that knows what they are doing even with the little button. If anyone wants in your truck they can get in easy.
Thanks for using FTE!
