Well I bit the bullet and bought one. I went to the dealer to pick up a F-250 C/C XL 4X4 V10 that I had them locate and bring in for me. Just couldn't pull the trigger on it. It was stripped way too much and it didn't feel like the V10 had any more umph than my 4.6 dodge. I know part of that was due to the motor only having 5 miles on it, but the PSD I drove had 6 and was ready to work. I took it. Now just waiting on the problems the rest of you seem to have.

Yes I agree with Viper, don't worry about something that MIGHT never happen. Just enjoy and if you have questions or problems just ask. Someone here might have had the same problem or question.
I disagree with the cross the bridge when you get there statement. Get proactive. Go thru the the Tech folder and TSB's to see what potential problems exist, and then get in your engine compartment and check things out. Many of the problems that the 6.0 has had can be identified early. Checking things like the intercooler clamps for the proper torque and any cracks around the band, check the wiring harnesses for chaffing, check to make sure wiring plugs are firmly seated, look under the truck for any sign of the rear main seal leak, etc. Also see if you can get your dealership to run an OASIS to see if there are any recalls for your truck and get them taken care of early. I didn't start having problems until 17k miles, but I could have identified a couple of those before they became a problem if I had just done what I suggested. In a perfect world the truck would have come from the factory with zero problems, but we don't live in a perfect world. Checking will give you a little more peace of mind and then you can have a lot more fun driving your new beast. Congrats, and enjoy.
Your new truck should come from the factory with zero problems and if it does have a problem thats why there is a 3yr 36k mile warranty .Let them inspect it and repair it . You just spent 40k on a new truck and it should be well built .Have confidence that it is .Do the scheduled maintenance on it and be glad you own the best truck built FORD . Don't go by these forms thinking all trucks built have problems .Most people here are venting and are only a very small percentage of the trucks made. Most trucks are well built and may only have minor problems if any. Most of the serious problems with the 05 and newer trucks are programmed related and not from cronic bad design like the 03's or 04's
To dismiss those of us that have had problems as naysayer's and venting would be to negate the greatest benefit of this site, knowledge and experience. Whether or not your truck SHOULD'VE come from the factory with zero defects and any problems that occur will be covered by a warranty, won't mean squat when you're stranded on the side of the road a couple of hundred miles from the nearest dealership. Because we've had problems with our Ford's doesn't automatically mean that we are anti-Ford, nor does it mean that your truck will experience the same issues. It does mean that if you take the time to read about our experiences you will be better able to deal with any issues that may arise and may even be able to stop a few before they happen. The statistical number of 6.0's that have had problems is an academic argument at best. Because whether that number is large or small, there is no list of VIN's for problem vehicles that you can check to see if yours is on it, so it's a gamble. And the best way to swing the odds in your favor is to arm yourself with knowledge. Don't let our problems make you paranoid, but please don't dismiss us as anomalies or naysayers either. Take our knowledge and experiences and file them away in the back of your mind, so if they are ever needed they will be there. Know go and enjoy your new truck.
22,450 trouble free miles, on a 2004, Crew Cab, Dually, 4X4, 6.0 PSD. I always look under the hood for loose stuff or any signs of problems and inspect under the truck and no issues, leaks wire chaffing, etc. I just came back from 4X4ing in the high desert and was really rough with the truck, no issues and washed all the dirt from my trucks bottom this morning. Awsome truck, don't worry too much about your truck, just keep an eye on things. Don't get over hyped with all the bad stuff you read here. If you spend a day reading here, you'll think the sky is falling and Ford trucks will stop being made next week due to, too many problems. Enjoy the truck and watch out for those trollers............
I am hoping to pick mine up by Wendsday(Providing the dealer gets it there on time). 05 F350 2wd DRW PSD Crew Cab Lariat.
Nothing wrong with preventive maintanence I can assure you I will be looking front to back as I do on all my equipment to make sure it is in tip top shape
To the original poster: Congrats on your truck. Hope all is well with it. I think its better to spring for the loaded versions of trucks--its a small monthly price to pay (if one finances) Regarding reliability, I think they probably tweaked the 6.0 and got some bugs out, which improves your chances of being trouble free compared to specimens like my early 2003.
Regarding naysayers, I agree with EnviroCon. In the past, I have described my truck as problematic. And despite that no one on this forum has ever seen my truck, inspected my truck , or given their money towards it, my comments on my truck are sometimes dismissed like I'm a nay-sayer or negative person. The rattles, etc in my truck speak volumes about my truck, and I just convey the message (it's not worth the $40k I spent). Shall I say in the future, I love my truck because not everything on it rattles (i.e., the glass is half full). I love my truck because the engine runs (although it surges) and because the transmission shifts (although it shifts hard) and because not all of the bearings have gone out (although the carrier bearing did). I love my truck because I can keep it in one lane (though I have to point the steering wheel to the right on average and I'm constantly swerving because my steering is so sloppy though it was recently aligned and has been "fixed" five times in 33K miles). I guess I should just count my blessings with my truck. After all, I only paid $40K for it and there is a high likelihood it will start and get me home.
(it pulls trailers really well--no arguing about that).
