I was wondering if you guess could tell me if that will work and what else will i need to pick up. I want to get everything taken care of that i can while the motor is out of the truck.
i would like to get a coil, button, plug wires, and anything else that i can get with the ignition system.
I have already got a new starter, new start cable, new starter solenoid, new battery.
What else would i need to get to make this conversion?
Is it worth the money or just get the regular one that is for a 69 F-100 for $37.97 and a new cap, rotor button, coil, points, condensor
Electronics means no points or condensor and setting dwell. Electronic means when it dies you are stuck. My 390 has points, my 460 has electronic. I quess if push comes to shove go with the electronic as long as you don't have to by the brain box too.
If you have points now then I think the best conversion to electronic is the Pertronix or the Crane XR-i. I installed the Crane in mine with no installation problems. If I ever....and I mean ever...LOL...get mine running I'll let you know how it does. The mechanical advance weights and springs are under the points plate. It's easy to disassemble and recurve as well if you want. Going with the stock dizzy, I think you need to recurve. The stock mechanical advance is slow. For most of our performance modified FE's, the mechanical advance needs to be in much earlier. It varies for every setup, but I think you want the mechanical advance completely in by around 2500 - 3000 RPM. Check me on this as I may be off my rocker again...LOL.

I want to make the conversion but i have no idea what to do or what i need. I have got my old dizzy and it is fine i just figured to spring for the upgrade. I am not what has to be done or what i have to buy to even get a starting point.
Check Cranecams website. Their explanation is that it randomly limits spark to cylinders to keep from exceeding the preset RPM limit. It was easy to install. If your cap, rotor, and wires have only been used for 500 miles then I'd reuse them if they are good quality and in good condition. I personally don't like the cap and rotary buttons that are aluminum inserts. For a few $$ more you can get a cap and rotary button that has copper inserts...I think it's much better.
If you are going to upgrade from the points to the electronic, you will also need the "DurasparkII" brain box, or something similar (ie, aftermarket). You need to make the decision. If you stick with Pertronix, you don't need an additional box. They flow like this...
Stock points, distributor and electronics
Stock points distributor/ Pertronix ignitor for electronics
Electronic distributor/electronic pulse box
Or you can go with the electronic distributor and use a HEI control module (GM) to trigger it...
