Fuel Filter Disconnect Tool

I know I need a Fuel Filter Disconnect Tool. When I went to the Advance Autoparts website, I found three different tools. Which one is the correct tool for an Expedition?

1.

2.

3.

Thanks

The top one is what you need.

Bought tool #1 and it worked fine. Thanks for the help Racerguy. No real way to keep gas from splashing down on you though. There isn't a lot of room of there to hold the tool, pull the line, and make sure that both the filter and line stay pointing up so you don't wear gas.

I am gonna have to do my fuel filter soon, would working with a pan on your chest work? I have a shallow pan, 1", but it is big enough to cover me. I was hoping that would work.

Always hold a rag over the fuel lines when you remove them and try to stay as far away as possible.
I hate smelling like gas so I always wear rubber gloves too.

I haven't looked at the filter, but it should have some rubber lines from both sides, and you should be able to clamp them off with a vice grips. Maybe I can pull this off without spilling any gas.

The lines are hard plastic and steel braided. I think you'll destroy them if you clamp them off. Maybe not immediately but.....

I also wrap a large rag around the line as I disconnect...that will get 90% of it.

Let the pressure out of the line with the Schrader valve on the passenger side fuel rail. There isn't much pressure, but it'll help a little. I just positioned my body more towards the center of the truck instead of right under the filter. Less than a pint of gas drained out of the filter.

The Schrader valve solution is a good one. But not knowing exactly where it was located and the thought of a misdiagnosis had me concerned. So when I did my fuel filter replacement, I pullled the fuel pump fuse while the truck was running, and let it starve itself until it died. No squirts of gas as a result when I disconnected the old filter. There was still fluid in the lines, etc. but nothing with pressure that could squirt out.

On a slightly different note, does anyone know where the fuel filter is located on a 2003 Expedition EB? I've been on my back for 15 minutes straight looking for it, to no avail. I found the filter on my F-250 in a few seconds, but can't get it on the Expedition!

Did you try the drivers frame rail? It can be kind of hard to see on the 1st generation expys, but I would think its in the same place. Otherwise, just trace the lines from the gas tank till you find a filter.

I was about to replace the filter on my 98 Navigator. What is the tool for and will I for sure need it?

The fuel filter locks into the line. Yes, you will need the tool or you WILL not get the filter unlocked from the line. I don't care how hard you pull (tried it). The tool was only $5.99 at Advance Auto.

Is that part number: Ampro T700453460? I couldn't find anything referencing just the T70045 number listed in the #1 link.
