91F-150 Stalling

I have a 91F-150 w/5.0L and auto tranny, when started up cold will idle erractic until high idle goes off, also having problem of stalling when slowing down. Can run fine for a week then out of no where will stall, put in nuetral and restarts fine. I have replaced plugs, wires, dist. cap and rotor, and ignition coil, computer was replaced back in Dec. when old one burnt up(was having problems back then too.) Checked timing and it was right on. Not getting check engine light. Also feels like hesitating when going down the road at a constant speed. Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm having the same problem with my 93. Pretty much did the same repairs you did except for the computer. I plan on replacing my fuel filter also (just found out where it is)

Stoppped at NAPA today and they have a chart saying it might be the Idle Adjustment Valve ($60.00 to $90.00)

My enginge check light goes on, but goes off after a while.

The salesman at NAPA suggeted going to Autozone (where I pretty much hate going) where they will check the check engine light code to see what the problem is.

Will follow up when I figure this out myself

Bobaloux may have suggested the source of your problem.
I would remove and clean the IAC valve on the side of the throttle body. Use throttle body cleaner and clean the insides as best as you can, make sure the little plunger is free to move. Make a new gasket and maybe replace the rubber 'o'-ring. Don't get the electrical parts wet with cleaner. ...Terry, '90 F150, 302

After rereading your post:
"Also feels like hesitating when going down the road at a constant speed."
I would suggest testing the Throttle Position Sensor with an ohm-meter, unfortunately a new tps costs too much and are a pain to replace. ...Terry

Thanks for suggestions, Checked throttle position sensor, checked good. Removed and cleaned Air bypass valve on side of throttle body and cleaned throttle body. Started up better with no high to low idle spikes, drove about 10 miles into town and it stalled out once, drove at least 30 more miles running errands and did not hiccup or stall again. Was planning a 500 mile trip to FL this weekend, looks like I will have to rent a car, at the present time cannot trust truck until I can put some more miles on it. Will keep thread posted on what happens.

Could be a vacuum leak.

After checking air charge temp. sensor and egr position sensor, which both checked good, drove truck about 50 miles into town and errands and not even a hiccup. Did check for vacuum leak and none found. Lets see what happens over time. Thanks to those who replied with suggestions.
