I need ideas and hopefully pics for ideas about where to install several rocker switches. Switches for off road lights, 12v to bed, flood light at trailer hitch, etc. I have all the relays, fuses, etc already rigged up but need to install the switches.
I know about all the cheap ugly looking boxes that stick out and under the dash but I'd rather stay away from that. If someone has pics, please insert them.
It may have to come down to drilling a hole on the dash, but where?
I mounted 4 with room to grow on that little panel on the dash where, I think, the ESOF switch would be, but I have manual hubs... I'll try an snap a picture for you
Check out Daryl's rig on his site. Check out all the electrical stuff he has done. Part of the way down the front page is a thing on the on board air system wiring and digital gauge he put in. To the left click on F350 for more stuff. You will have to cut and paste this link, then click on the Banshee. http://www.forgotton.net
if you have the radio with the din and ahalf of double din pocket, you could just take a thin piece of sheet metal, screw it into place on the opening, and mount your switches there. i believe someone on ebay used to sell them pre made as well.
Tank, I've seen Daryl's rig before, it's just way too "busy" for me.
I'm looking at mounting the small switches to the left of Cuda's, the darker color area, it's pretty flat.
I have ESOF so they can't go where he has them. In the lighter area (at the 7 O'clock position in photo) I have horizontal slits so I'd have to install a plate then drill it and paint it to match.
I'll wait for more ideas to pop up before I (gulp) fire up the drill.
Thanks ya'll...

Steve is correct... rat-shack sells them. The red button is to change the strobe light patterns... Nothing exciting -- no nitrous or anything. The idea about the din pocket is one I hadn't thought of... Kinda wish I did now... had I done that I wouldn't have 5 holes in my dash The only tough part about mounting switches the way I did is getting all the holes to line up... just a warning to anyone thinking about this same setup. Enjoy!
"din" refers to the size of the radio slot... The stock ford radio is close to "double din" The deck I have in there now is a "single din" so they make the filler pocket to take up the space... iskybantilus suggested a plate over the pocket... which would place the switches directly under my radio in that picture I posted earlier... thus avoiding holes in the dash and only having to drill the filler plate and the filler pocket Hope that was clear enough... let me know what you end up doing

Yea he is crazy on the lighting. The entire cab glow's in the dark from all that stuff.
I have the same slits your talking about also, and on that panel next to the 4x4 switch is the rear defrost button. I wanted to mount my flip chip dial in there somplace but ended up putting it on the other side.
I was debating putting all the switches where you have them Ryland. I may still. Does the switch have a gap underneath due to the curvature of that piece of trim? I was thinking about the area just above your's, the big flat area. Maybe I should go with your idea instead, looks clean. I like the right side though, so I can get to the switch from the passenger side door if I'm standing outside. They're for the trailer flood and another one I can stick in a bed rail stake hole when needed. I'm still trying to think of a way to mount a flood to a hunk of wood I'll put in the stake hole.
Got the blocks, thanks. I dont have the factory fog lights so I'm going to use the relay's to put in some aftermarket lights.
That area does have a small curve but since the light switch's your looking at dont have a huge surface area the very edge may be slightly raised but nothing that would show up bad.
Lemme' know which fogs you go with. Mine aren't bright enough. I want to put in Silverstars but I can't figure out how to pop the lens cover. I was almost to the point of snapping plastic off.
