I posted this on the Tranny forum, but didn't get anything -- thought I'd try it here.
If I wanted to add a PTO to an NP 435 that did not originally have one, is there anything that has to be done or added to the inside of the tranny, or do you just take off the PTO cover and bolt it on the side? Also what is the correct Chelsea/Dana # for a PTO for an NP 435 in a stock 1976 F-250? I see PTOs for sale on Ebay but no way to find out the correct one for my truck. Thanks for the help......... Brian
Great question. I have a 69 that had an NP transplanted into it. I've not seen one with a PTO yet, but I'd be tempted to pull the cover... should give you some clues.
I pulled a PTO from an older ford truck that had a 390 in it with a 4 speed but I do not recall which 4-speed trans it was. I think it had an aluminum top cover to it so maybe a T-18 or can you even mount a PTO to a T-18? I am not tranny expert but I pulled the flywheel from the motor and grabbed the PTO to sell it. The tranny is junk. The input shaft is twisted and I 'm pretty sure the inside had a few things wrong with it.
I can grab the part number from it for ya or s?ll it to ya.
I have a PTO on my Divorced T-Case... Maybe it is the same as what you are looking for. It was on the truck when I bought it, so I don't know exactly what it is. It runs my 20,000 lb winch.
