no carpet in FX4?
Hello, I didnt want to steal someone elses thread so I thought I start my own with this question.
Anybody know if its possible when placing a build order if you can specify to leave the carpet out? I am going to be ordering an FX4 soon and thought it would be nice to have one less thing in my truck to clean. Thanks

I cannot say for sure, but I am going to say no you have to get the carpet in the FX4. In all the reading I have done, I do not remember reading anything where carpet could be deleted. My step son just bought a new 05 STX 4x4 Saturday and it does not have carpet. It is a very nice truck. One of the features I liked that I could not get on my Lariat is the manual four wheel drive shifter on the floor for the transfer case. Anyway, I think XL and STX are the only F150's that come without carpet, without special ordering a fleet. Good Luck!

There's no "delete carpet" option. You get rubber mats instead of carpet mats, though. Have you checked out: http://www1.forddirect.fordvehicles....ord&partner=fv where you can spec out and price the truck, including all possible options? It's pretty handy.
Enjoy the truck when you get it.

Thanks, I have been there several times to spec out the truck I'm getting. I didnt see a carpet delete as an option but wasnt sure if I could do it through a dealer or something. Underneath the carpet, is it just the same vinyl as in the STX? If so would it be an option to just rip the carpet out?

No, the carpet comes with a padding/insulation material glued to it or the floor and the floor is painted. You could talk to the Parts Dept. and get a price for STX or XL rubber floor to install. Then when negotiating your new truck deal have them throw that in or at least sell it to you at their costs. Good Luck!

carpet
if you get the fx4 and you get it with the carpet, and you get it with the supercab model, ill either buy yours or trade ya mine. i have a 2005 supercab f150 xl 4x4. i have the black rubber matt, and the wife says she would rather have carpet.
i dont even know if this is allowed on this board. if not, oops.

It may not be listed as an option but I'd be amazed if you couldn't get the dealer to put in the black vinyl floor instead of carpet. I'd prefer that myself. I'm looking into getting an STX one of these days (or years) and although power windows and doorlocks aren't options, I've had all the dealers give me a price quote on having them added. Doesn't hurt to ask!

If you're ordering it from the factory, you should be able to get it with the rubber flooring. Ford does have a "Carpet Delete" option that isn't listed on their site. I saw this option on the window sticker of an FX4 when I was shopping for my truck. I also asked the dealer about pulling the carpet out of my STX and putting in the rubber floor and they said they were not able to order the flooring. Just talk tell the salesman what you want. My father in law works in the Ford plant in Norfolk and he says he sees things like this on orders all the time.

If there's a carpet delete option, it must be one of the best-kept secrets. Perhaps the dealer must need a limited-edition decoder ring or must know the secret handshake.
When I ordered my FX4, I went through every single available option with the dealer, from his book (not the web site) and carpet delete wasn't one of them. Of course that was last year, so maybe something's changed.
