FUEL FLOW/MILEAGE COMPUTER

OK, two posts in one day, I'll try to keep it down, but it's so Easy to ask you experts. I want to know if anyone makes a computer with a component that really measures actual fuel flow, like on an airplane. Why? Mileage off road in 4 wheel drive can be extremely low, like 2-3 MPG. How far can I really go and how much extra gas do I need to carry. AS an add on, how about a fuel line shut off switch that can be locked to thwart the evil thieves . . . Thanks.

Go to Radio Shack and purchase an intermitten switch for $1.69. Intermitten so you have to hold it in to start. That way it is always active. The button on the switch is as big as a pencil eraser or smaller. Hide this switch anywhere within reach of the driver and wire it to the clutch switch (the one that makes you push the clutch to start the truck, with cruise control ensure you get the right two wires)

If you have an auto transmission wire it to the switch that makes the trans have to be in park or nuetral to start. Now you can safely leave your keys in the ignition and nobody is going to drive your truck away.

Keep a small jumper wire handy in the glove box. If you need to let someone else (tire man, muffler shop) drive your truck just pop on the jumper wire to disarm it. Cheap insurance against car jackers and auto thieves...
Hope this helps, Chris

Phillip,
Thanks for the info. The correct url for the source you noted is http://transferflow.com/, ie. no www. I couldn't find any info on fuel flow computers at that site, but I did some more checking and found a site that does have such a computer at http://www.oztechnics.com.au/car.htm.
