Thanks Rick
I've installed two of them, and helped a half dozen other do this.
The dealer I first talked to didn't know his head from...
Well, this only applies to 2004-2005 New model F-150. Period.
The XL and the STX have the cruise wires already in the column. At least on the couple dozen that I know about.
You actually only need the switches, but usually you end up getting the wheel. Ebay is very good for this. I have seen them from 60-120 shipped. Figure on about 85 and you won't be wrong. To have it programmed cost me 60. Highest I have heard was 85.
60-85 is labor charge to put the wheel on at most dealerships.
Search for cruise in this forum for very detailed instructions for doing the job yourself. Takes about twenty minutes, assuming you can change a tire, or a hook up a home stereo.
This is not for adding the radio/climate control switches. Those wheels cost slightly more, and you do not normally have the extra wire in the column. Wouldn't work without changing a lot more stuff.
Cruise is very handy on these trucks, and is the most precise I have used on an American truck.
