need help on some codes

high guys, im having some problems with my truck. lately I was pulling my trialer and while driving down the freeway at 65 mph. the engine just quit running. coasted to a stop and then it restarted and run ok after that. then a few days later while parking the trailer and going thru some sand, it ran really bad, it had no power at all , the engine whould not rev up, then after a few minutes it ran ok. it had lots of power. I have noticed lately a rough idle, only after the engine is hot and been running for awhile. later that day I went to my friends house, he has a obd-2 analizer and some codes popped up. p-1209, p-1210, p-1211. also p-0340 which was replaced a short time ago. what im trying to find is do you think its the 1 IPR-injection pressure regulator.or the ICP injection pressure sensor. any help is always welcome from you guys . thanks, 01psd

Does your check engine light flicker when driving. Mine would when my ipr was on its way out. Will your buddies scanner read the hpop pressure while driving? Mine would only hit 1500psi before i replaced it. Now it hits over 3000psi. See if you can get it read and that should help you out!

LANCER, thanks for responding to my post. im not sure if my friends scanner will give live data. mine starts with a loping idle. then gets worse as the engine gets hotter. then it will just die and have no power. then it will get better all by itself. did you replace the sensor or the other unit.? icp thanks again for your responce to my problem. im thinking that that is my problem. just hoping that someone like you can help and I think you have. I will let all of you know what it was that fixed my problem thanks again. -01psd

That seems to be what the codes are telling you. PCM is unable to get the pressure it needs, and another code says that the injector pressure is uncontrolable. Hope this helps.

I changed my ipr and and that fixed my problem. The icp was reding fine on the scanner so i figured it was woking fine. If your going to buy one go to an international dealer. They were about 200.00 dollars cheaper here in Canada than ford was.

LANCER, thanks again for your responce. I forgot to tell you that when my friend used the scanner on my truck. there were some numbers that showed on the screen, they were erratic, going higher then lower at idle and under acceleration. same way erratic, if I get what you did that fixed your problem by changing the IPR does it sound like I might also need to change the ICP also.? I can get both for $329.83 at a out of state ford dealer. does that sound about right. compared to what you spent.

I would change the ipr first. The numbers will always be a bit erratic because the pressure changes constantly. Do you recall what the #s went up to. You should see about 3000psi under acceleration for a second or two. You can always change the icp at a later date. I like to try one thing at a time so you know what it was forsure. As for the price for the parts it sounds good to me. It took me about half a day to change mine. Also the return line from the fuel filter hooks to the side of the filter housing with a little aluminum fitting. Be carefull! Mine broke and a new one was 75 bucks! So just snug it when re-assembling. I didn't overtighten mine but someone before me did and it just popped off! Good luck and let me know how you make out. Have a good one!

LANCER, thanks again for getting back to me.as I remember the numbers did not get that high, they were very erratic.now on the parts that im going to order the price is different than what I told you. ICP sensor is $95.45 IPR is $175.99 and a seal kit for hpop is$16.26 IM thinking of just replacing all these just to be sure. I have some oil leaking and I am going to reseal hpop and turbo seals. but when I change IPR first so I will be able find out if that is or isnt my problem then I will then just change the ICP sensor and know that everything should be good. thanks again and I will let you know what it was that fixed fixed my truck. 01psd
