how to find if my truck has 4:11 gearing

Greetings!
Just got back from driving my 2000 f-250 v-10 longbed crew cab home from Newark I bought it off ebay to haul my 5th wheel/summer home around the state. The previous owner wasn't sure what gearing the truck had. Is there some code or sticker on the door that can tell me this info?

Also my new baby came with a Tekonsha Prodigy Power Brake Controller and a Jet Power Control Module. Any websites out there that can get me an owners manual or instructions?

Thanks in advance and I hope you love your truck as much as I do mine. (hope my wife doesn't find out about this!)

Go into the FAQ's section at the top of the Super Duty forumn. Go to the second post in there and look for the listing in the vehicle certification label. There is a number code for your axle setup.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong guys, there is a tag on the rear axle that has the info too. It's secured between two diff cover bolts.

Here's a few numbers for you:

Axle Type
31 — 3.73 non-limited slip, F-250/Excursion
C1 — 3.73 limited slip, F-250/Excursion
32 — 4.10 non-limited slip, F-250
C2 — 4.10 limited slip, F-250/Excursion
33 — 4.30 non-limited slip, F-250
C3 — 4.30 limited slip, F-250/Excursion
36 — 4.56 non-limited slip, F-250
C6 — 4.56 limited slip, F-250

I'm pretty sure the 2000 V10 F250's came with 3.73 or 4.30 gears. 4.10's were only available with the V8.

If you are desperate to find the ratio, and you can't find it on a tag or anything, there is the option of pulling the back cover, counting the pinion teeth and dividing them into the number of ring gear teeth. I mean, you have to change the lube eventually, right?
If you just want a ball park, I have jacked up the rear of the vehicle and counted the driveshaft turns it takes to turn the tires one revolution. A quarter turn = .25, etc.

All that is kinda hard.

Go to the FAQ and click on rolling chassis.

It'll give you the ballpark (mathmatically correct) RPM for each ratio when in OD and travelling 60 mph. The RPMs posted have enough difference in them that there shouldn't be any question.

BTW, No Super Duty has ever had 4.11 gears. Choose either 3.73 or 4.30, as stated previously by V10man.

Well technically, MY Superduty has 4.10 gears. But it has the V8 too.

Correct, V8s and some dually PSDs have 4.10 as an option. But since the original poster has a V10, I thought the point irrelevant at that moment.

Another thing is that now 05+ V10s have 4.10s as an option.

Any Ford dealer can tell you by your VIN.
