First fill-up a few days ago... I flip open the fuel door & remove the cap and something just doesn't look "right". I put the mega-$$ go juice in and when I remove the fuel nozzle, it hits me. There is no spring-loaded "flap" covering the hole in the truck's fuel opening. Haven't seen a "flap-less" fuel system in a real long time. Did they just miss this on my truck or is Ford getting really, really cheap and leaving it off?
I have never seen a flap cover in any gas vehicle I have owned in Canada. My 02 Honda Accord has no flap but you have to release the gas tank door from the inside. I purchased a locking Gas cap for my new truck and it as much for vandals as it is for thieves.
I never paid attention but I suspect that the entirely new fuel and vapor strategy is as you suggest. Or they just pinched a few more pennies... OH well
LOL i thought those flaps were put in to help stop ppl from stealing fuel. Maybe it's a Ks. thing. My '91 Nissan Maxima has it. Thats when i started making sure i had a 5 gallon container full of fuel for mowing. Got tired of my house getting stuck.
