An air powered needle scaler also works well... better than a chipping hammer and ball-peen in most places. It'll chunk that crap right off.

Thumbs up

Frame looks great!! I was fortunate enough my brother has an industrial sandblaster. It took about 2 hours, the longest part was sandblasting the crossmembers which I took out. I blasted all the small brackets like the motor mount towers, shock brackets, cab mounts, etc in my table top blaster which took forever, but I had the time. I probably spent about 200 bucks all together. That included the 100 dollar table top blaster and 60 bucks worth of sand. The place I normally get sand from was out, so I had to go to Menards and buy 50 lb bags. So not a huge expense. It just took forever putting the frame back together. Check out my gallery if you want to see what I did. Yours looks really good for the price you put into it. A huge difference from where you started. I think nowadays, companies make some really good paint, and if you have all the loose rust off and dirt, there is really no need to spend a whole lot and have it sandblasted. Sandblasting companies are making way too much on doing it (in my opinion).Good luck on the rest of your project

Your project is looking fantastic! I like the color scheme thing you got going on. A good encapsulating paint that seals out oxygen should prevent or seriously slow any future rest build up. Of course, when I do my next project, I will be better of finacially and will have it sand blasted and then hot dipped galvanized. . .yes they have industrial galvanizers that can handle a 4x4 crewcab frame

Thanks for the compliments and keep on keepin' on with your project
