...................The OTHER solution is to install a Holley "Red" 'lectric fuel pump and then you don't have to Fool with the regular type pumps and TDC and all that Jazz . Of course , when it's time for replacement it will cost about 5 times as much as a Factory pump . I also installed a fuel pressure control and have it set at 7 psi prior to entering the carb . The Holley will pump constantly at 15 psi . Also installed a "T" just before the pressure regulator and routed a "return line" with a 1\4 inch discharge back into the "behind the seat" tank . I drilled a small hole into the round metal housing for the swing arm that screws into the top of the tank . By installing a fuel return line you are constantly circulating "cool fuel" thru the pump as this is the only way it has of cooling itself during the extremely hot days here in Tx . I still have Plenty of pressure and volume to supply my 625cfm Carter Carb . sk
I can certainly see that beauty.
If none of us learned any thing there would be no reason to come here.
Careful, guys...you'll need to copy/drag this over to GasHogs' Motivational thread! The reason I'm here is to glean from folks like you, so I can apply yer expertise to my projects, and learn a little bit about myself along the way. FWIW, I'd never have thought TDC would have anything to do with bolting up a fuel pump...now I know better. Thanks.
i think that thread gave me all the motivation i needed. docholiday gave me the motivation one night to put a/c in my truck .so i thought about it then went out and did it 10 hours later and it turned out well, i could not have done it without you docholiday and thanks for the help with the fuses.
It was all my pleasure. I like to help as much as get help. If we lived closer, I would have come over and helped you.
It's a little more trouble than the dealer installed but it looks realy good and functions well. Doesn't it?
Doc
the look of it is very nice and clean and it works great .the coolest part is the vacuum motors they used .after 30 years all of them still perform like new and are really smooth.
I agree Gas hog, those things are cool! The only one I had to replace was the heater control valve, and it was only 10 bucks and 5 minutes. Boy that foam rubber on the doors inside the boxes was in bad shape though. I bought a water cooler filter, cut it to shape, and super glued it to the doors to fix mine. Was your insulation in good shape?
