Intermittent Squeeking Noise

My Ranger has 54k on it and in the last about 5-6k i've noticed that when i start it up in the morning when i get off work at 5am, the belt makes a mild squeeking sound for about 10-30 seconds. I've been able to pin it down to the serpintine belt in the area around the a/c compressor pulley. It will do the with of without the a/c on and it seems to do it more often when its foggy or really humid, if its raining it will always do it. It has never done it other then when i first start it and i have checked the tentioner and the idler and they are fine, The belt still almost looks new which is amazing since it's the same belt that was on it when i bought it new. Is it possible that the belt has hardened over the years causeing it to slip a hair when cold??? i'd rather not replace it if it doesnt even look at all worn out. Any feedback would be appreciated, maybe someone else may hav this problem.

The power steering on my 95 Taurus started to bind up (scary)momentarily at at high speeds at about 60K.

The serpentine belt still looked fine, but when I swapped it the steering problem went away.

So now I swap it every 50K.

you could try to clean the belt and pulleys.

My Ranger 3.0 V-6 did the same thing a 55K miles. If it was a wet or damp, the belt would squeek. Tried replacing the belt, cleaning the pulleys, but nothing helped for very long. The problem has to do with the belt tensioner and idler pulley as it turns out. Ford has a service bulletin for the problem. The dealer replace the belt tensioner, idler, and a new belt. Cost me about $200.00, but I am now squeek free.

Hope that helps...

I have a $50 deductable on my extended warranty and i found the idler and the tentioner online for about $50 for the 2. I'll wait till it gets worse and fix it myself at home. It will only take my about 10-15 minutes to fix myself, but if i go to the dealer my truck sits there all day and gets fixed 15 minutes after i show up to pick it up and complain like i seem to always have to do everytime i go there to get something done.
