the benefit of the ccv mod is to help get cleaner air intake, for some reason ford has oil vapors circulating through the intake and intercooler and all that stuff probably thinking that the turbo needed lub.??? I am not sure here. But with the ccv still hooked to the intake once you start getting aftermarket parts and your boost starts to rise a lot of times the boots connecting to the intercooler "pop" off because of the oil residue making it slippery. This mod helps cure the boot slip and give you cleaner air into that 7.3L beast.
I plugged the hole with an NPT plug. The tap fit perfectly inside the hole to cut some threads. If you don't have a tap for cutting threads you could simply wrap some aluminum foil several layers deep around the flange on the bottom and secure it with a clamp. Then get some 5 minute epoxy from NAPA and fill the hole. Once the resin has cured remove the foil. Of course you need to thoroughly degrease it first for that procedure.

do i see a vw fuel filter on the wastegate? whats the deal there?
Good eyes. It's to keep the dirt out. I disconnected it and didn't want to cap it in case the boost blew the wastegate open. Didn't want to rupture the diaphram inside. So I put the filter on there to allow pressure to release.

It is there for emissions reasons.
Kwik that is alot like what I did on the '96 I was to lazy to take the cover off again and turn it around. main reason for turning it around it so the line can run over the brake booster, and help keep any oil that gets in there in the engine. the '97 is turned around and over the brake booster and it still drips oil out the CCV. http://community.webshots.com/album/344525237nQuMGc
sorry no link to a write up. I dont know where there is one.
Thank you. I honestly don't like it any more, too many people ask questions about it. I am gunna rout it into the exhaust some day. I was bored at work one day, made it up.
