I have a FMX tranny - C9ZP7006A on drivers side and 9J23 17 DIF on the passenger side. From what vehicle can I get a floor shift and easily adapt it on my '54 F100. I have never seen an aftermarket kit listed for a FMX and 'effie.
Thanks

Gramps! I found a few listed on the Lokar site that may work for you. They aren't specifically for an effie, but with a bit of cutting and trimming of sheetmetal and using a trim ring and leather or rubber boot one would right at home.
23" NOSTALGIA FORD FMX SHIFTER P/N ATS6FMXAN
That one is a double bend unit that attaches to the aft end of the tranny and to my taste has the look of an old style manual shift. There are many other styles too.
1) Many of the aftermarket "universal application" shifters for a C4 will fit a FMX with some work. The end result may not be ideal. I don't believe, at any rate, that you'll find a aftermarket '53-'56 Effie-specific auto shifter, for any trans. (if that's what you have) Someone may prove me wrong.
2) That being said, the Lokar ATS6FMXBN is FMX specific & would likely fit the F-100 without much work. It mostly depends on the positioning & style of your seat. It is one of their "nostalgia" shifters.
3) The best I can tell you on a FoMoCo shifter is to look for a early '70s Ford/Merc intermediate or Mustang/Cougar, or a late '70s intermediate/SBF Ranchero/Elite/Granada etc. I don't know how "easily" it will work, & I suspect the stick will be annoyingly short. Worth a look, though.
Thank you for the info and the advice. I already have a access hole in the tranny cover for current floor shift. I want one with a hard mount on top of the trans for secure shifts. Now all I have is a sloppy 5/16" rod from the trans to the shift lever. Will persue the Lokar version as that will save me scrounging in the bone yard. Thank you again.

The other shifter to look at is (are) the Gennie Shifters. Their mount isn't as "flexible" as the Lokar, which has a sliding bracket & multiple holes. The Gennie has either the front or the back (two separate kits), but the front mount is slightly forward of the Lokar & to my mind is a little sturdier. It's very close, as far as I can say without actually mocking one up, to the stock location of my T98 4spd. shifter. That assumes a SBF/C4 combo & typical mounts. Attached is a pic of the Lokar.
Good picture Homespun. I did see a pic of a Genie setup and I think the Lokar (not really sure) may be the better way for me since I already have a 2 1/2" x 4" hole in the Tranny cover for the current shifter. The current hole starts 2 1/2" up from the bottom edge of the floor cover and I don't want to enlarge it to the point I have to weld a patch. Neat and simple as they say. Thanks for your input.

Why thank ya, Tim....of course, you might have actually been looking at the Photoshop'ed pic of 'Fenders' truck that I was saving for future hasslin'.
My '55 (the blue one) is what I would call a "20 footer"; meaning from 20 feet, it looks good. Closer than that- hmmm. No rust to speak of though. Needs different wheels but I don't want to do anything until if/when I go IFS. Still debating keeping the Y-block, straight axle, adding better wheels & a C4 & just detailing it.
Over six, unfortunately. I wanted a rustfree one & paid prolly way too much. Living in the Midwest I've dealt with rusty vehicles waaaay too many years, so I bought something decent for a change. It does have a newly rebuilt Y-block with ram's horns, the good late 4 bbl intake, the high lift rockers, & new paint, tires, brakes, steering gear, bushings, etc. The bedwood is original (I think) & in decent enough shape, needs refinished. It was supposed to have sat in a barn for quite a few years before it was brought back to life.
It needs door panels & a better headliner. The original seat is in very nice shape. I've just finished rewiring it & replacing the side glass, glovebox, switches, bezels, new electric wiper motor, rebuilding the wiper linkage, & other minor pieces that cost a lot more than I wish they did.
Still debating whether to go with the above plan, or go the BBF route with a IFS & four link rear. I like the Y, but it needs more power to suit me (ex- drag racing grease ball). A money pit either way.
