6.4L CAT or Ford?

Some new guy on the.diesel.stop says he is a Ford Tech guy from Oklahoma and swears the new 6.4 L will be a CAT diesel and not Navistar/Ford diesel. He said his Regional Ford Field Service Engineer told him so. Anybody here hear the same thing anywhere else?

Doesn't Ford own Cummins or maybe the largest share holder? Just MHO but I suspect Ford has a lengthy contract with Navistar..

well if it did go to CAT i dont think anyone here would have a problem with that, actually the sales could even go up CAT has some good engines. Ford already has the 7.2 I6 CAT in the F650-F750. But I dont know never heard of that for the SD's.

Caterpillar does not make a 6.4L diesel. The smallest they offer is the 7.2L which they refer to as the C7.

The C7 will not fit in a SD...
I really don't think that it will be Cat.

But to be completely honest these days I don't for sure.
I am 99% confident it will still be a Navistar.

How's that weight figure of 1295lbs compare to the 6.0, D-max and cummins?

The C7 would take a Superduty and wrap it around the driveshaft. But, with that PW J57 unit, the truck simply wouldn't need wheels or a driveshaft. It would simply FLY!

Wekiwa, a few months ago there was some discussion about Ford / Cummings.

At one time Ford owned a piece of them but, little to none now.
