For any of you who do laundry, how long do you set the wash time for? Are you a person that sets it for the longest wash possible, or an average time like 10 minutes?
If there are stains or heavy grime, I give it as much time as possible. If it's just a bunch of clothes or bedsheets that just have normal sweat/minor dirt buildup, then a quicker time will do.
A thorough rinse cycle (or two short ones) is important as well.
Hmmm that seems to short. Ever since I bought a front load washer (Whirlpool Duet)4 years ago from start to finish has never been less then 45 minutes and averaging one hour. It's tough to tell what the wash time is on some new machines, but I've never had my clothes come out cleaner then they do now.Mil1ion make a true statement. Most traditional top load washers prematurely wear out your clothes.

Ranger Rules: Are you doing more surveys for school? When I do laundry I usually set it for 10 minutes. Work clothes get the longest cycle (14-16 mins I think).
Usually 10min
Any stains get the stain stick or spray to remove.
Heavy stains are usually work or shop clothes that will just get used in the shop again or become new shop clothes.
n.b. I like the clothes line also - its a simple life
Dont know how long I put them to wash for. I just dump the clothes and soap in the machine and set it for reg. cycle and forget about it. It takes about 20 mins. I think.

The front loaders do take longer (got a Kenmore a few years ago), I think it's because the rinse/ spin cycles take longer. What amazes me about these things is how QUIET they are; I have to look in the window to see if it's working!
