1980 300 I6 intake's
my truck when I first got it had the airpump, and all the smog equipment on it , after a few months the exhaust rusted out and so did the tubes to the egr.
so I yanked it all off, and removed the egr plate unbolted the egr valve and filled in all the port holes with aluminum. and I rebuilt the carb. the truck runns fine but I have noticed it has a small vacuume leek comming from the egr plate.
I'm not worried about emission laws here in kentucky. because kentucky doesn't enforce any.
also after I let the truck sit for 3 weeks last winter she has frozz ,I forgot to put antifreez in it. when I started the truck it didnt overheat or leek any water, but for some reason it has oil blowby comming from the breather tube like a oil steem, I pulled the pcv valve and replaced it, removed the valve cover and tryed to poke a coat hanger down the return holes in the head. but they werent clogged. could the head or block be cracked or could it be the rings?
like I said she runs fine has a slight mis from the egr plate vacuume leek, or overheating. fuel milage is the same as always 12mpg.
BUT, later non EGR 300's used a nice little carb spacer

As for your blowby, if you're not using coolant, getting water in the oil or oil in the water, and not pressurizing the cooling system, it's the rings.
12 mpg seems a little low for this engine. Mine gets 15 city 22 hwy.
