i have a 79 2wd supercab shortbed with a 460 and c-6. I was wanting to know if the body would bolt on a 4x4 regular cab long bed frame. would you have to move mounts or is it just impossible thanks ron
Check what your wheel base is on your truck. A reg cab/long box is a 133" wheel base. Another thing to consider is that the frame rises once it passes the cab. So even if the wheel base is the same (although I think the supercab wheel base is somehwere in the 138" area), the frame on the 4x4 chassis will be rising in the back portion of the supercab. It could be done, but a lot of fabbing will be neccesary.
A short-bed supercab has a wheelbase of 138.8 or 139", depending on whether or not it is an F-100 or F-150. The long bed conventional cab has a wheelbase of 133".
thanks guys for the info. since i wrote the post, a guy at work measured his reg cab long bed and came up with the same numbers. i guess i will continue to search for a supercab shortbed 4x4. if you all hear of one reasonably close to louisville ky. let me know
