I am having the worst time figuring this one out. I have a 92 Bronco with a 351W (5.8). I have been chasing an electrical problem for some time now. It includes replacing all the EEC relays under the hood, new ground cable (best improvement), egr position sensor, tfi module, and probably a few things I can't remember right now, anyhow, I have a stuttering problem above 1/4 throttle lately. It only shows itself after I reach operating temperature, it will ping AND pop thru the manifold almost at the same time if I lean into it. I suspect the distributor, or possibly the replacement tfi module. Has anyone seen this before and can tell me which way to look next.
I would take a break and hook up to the computer and see what codes you have. You may have done this before, but I would do it again and see what happens. See if you have any hard codes and what memory codes you have. Make sure you write down the codes(if you have any) in the order you receive them. Ford says always work on the codes you receive first, since they are more important and sometimes they can cause the codes you receive lower down the list.
If you need to find out how to read the codes, you can go here. http://dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html
All you need is an old style voltmeter with a needle, or a testlight.
If you receive code 11, then we can look for a mechanical issue.
