Those truck that ya'll can pick up for nothing or close to nothing....you better grab them. Those days are going to be coming to a halt in short order.

That's for sure, has anyone ever looked into buying a early model bronco latley? I've see some with a new paint job, worn out motor and trany go for$5,000 + easilly.

It's going to come to the same thing with our trucks, and the 78 79 model ful size broncos.

I've owned my 78 truck for 10 years. It has served me very well. For the past year, I've lent my truck to my mother, since she sold her truck. So, I'm left to drive my compact car, until she buys another vehicle. But on occassion, I drive my truck for errands.

In fact, I drove my truck down a backstreet the other day. I had the need to bond with my baby again. I rolled my windows down, romped on it a few times, then took my foot off the gas. As my truck cruised along, I listened to howling tires.

I do admire the newer trucks, but prefer to hear my v8, and my tires rolling down the road. Thanks to my husband, I now appreciate my truck more than ever.

Yes Great magazine.

I hear from users that their parts are crap.
Measurements are all wrong, on close fitting parts

How about checking with FTE's sponsors ?
Top of the page or side of the page.

I thought this was general discussion about keeping trucks alive ?

I'm glad ya'll brought up good old LMC. My uncle ordered a big bunch of parts through them. I on the other hand ordered my parts through a site sponsor, Jeff's bronco graveyard. He got a young lady on the phone that didn't know any thing about parts. I got a very nice guy that told me exactly what I needed. Half of his stuff ended up being on back order, all mine arrived 3 days after I called them. Half of his stuff is junk, the other half had to be modified to fit correctly and still looks bad. All my stuff fit like it was specificly made for my truck. Last but not least....we both ordered several parts at one time....but my bill was about a 100 bucks cheaper.
So, Ford man and Dennis....your both right. LMC is a great magazine, and they sell over priced junk. I love it when everyone turns out to be right.

Im 16, and when i got my truck i didnt want a overpriced piece of crap like one of the newer anything trucks, so i got a 1980 f-250 4x4. yea, i know its in the wrong forum, but it was acctually made in 11/79 so it is kinda a ******* truck, but i still love it. i paid 900 for it after a electral relay(or something) burnt up most of the electronics on the truck and i have been replacing all of them with self-made patches where needed . no, im not going to load it up with a 2000 watt stereo and tinted windows and all the other crap everyone else my age does. what i do have planned is to get the good ole 351 modified back into decent order, eleminate all of the rust spots, and make it a solid truck for work, play, and getting me back and forth to school and work. im not going to bondo every miniscule dent, scrape and ding. i am going to have it repainted the gray and blue that it is(it is a retired Overnite Express fleet service truck fleet # 85105) because i believe that every truck has a certain history like anything else and should be cherished instead of covered up in multi-thousand dollar body work. i believe that mechanical goodness is a hell of a lot better than having a crappy good looking ricer that couldnt pull a street sign down.

Anywayz, thats my little bit on way i would rather have a older "beater" if you will, than have a brand new piece of plastic crap.

Also, dont get into emmisions when talking about older trucks. All of those I6s' and 351s' are the same, if not better than all of the good ole black smoke spewing duramaxs, cummins, and powerstrokes, not to mention the 10 cylinder fords.

I don't know if any of you realize this, but they all pretty much sell the same parts from 2-3 sheet metal suppliers. Saying "so and so has crap parts" is, in a way, saying they all do. Some of the problems have to do with what is known as "shelf worn." The parts are shipped stacked up, and then are stored stacked up. The weight over time can bow them.

A lot of the USA made reproduction stuff I've seen is worse. For instance, floor pans not primed and rusty, with the maching burrs left on. Foreign made has nothing to do with being junk, a lot of it has to do with shipping weight. A tailgate, for instance, is very expensive to ship. Would you pay twice as much shipping... without complaining about the shipping price? Or pay 2-3 times as much for the tailgate because it was made in the USA? Before you answer... take a look at Walmart and think about where most people put the priority (price!).

Hey, Ken is right on this one....We're losing more jobs in the U.S. every day, but it's our own fault. The magority of what Wal mart sells is from over seas, yet every saturday after noon...the place is packed with customers.

I know I live 45 minutes north of Atlanta and I know dozens of people who have 73-79's my dad's best friend has 26 67-79's out in a field just waiting to be restored or parted, I'm thinkin of scroungin enough parts to build a Jonny Cash special "70,71,72,73...."
