I'm building a 79 f250 and i bought a 6inch skyjacker kit and i was wondering if i will be able to fit 38.5 inch boggers. if i cant what should i do to get a couple of extra inches. i also bought a body lift but i really dont want to use it . any advice will help thanks.
send that spawn-of-satan back, esp if you dont want to use it! go ahead and put the tires on. I know they will fit in the driveway. then get the sawzall out and if it needs trimming.... well trim it! when your done either roll the edges back or weld a metal dowel bent to the shape of the wheel well to keep the fenders from cutting the tire up
I would say yes. I am setting up my truck with 6" front springs, 4" rears w/ shackle flip and eliminating the blocks. It is sitting on 42" tsls. No bed- hopefully tube after this weekend. I also trimmed the body a lot but only some for tire clearance. I would say you would need minimal trimming with the 38s. It also depends on how wide they are and how much you want it to flex.
i think im going 11 inches wide. and i dont think i will be needing to much flex this truck isnt going to be a hard core offroading truck it will be an occasional offroader.
My guess is you will be ok but you wont know for sure until it is all together. When I bought my truck it was very a sagged stock suspension with 36" military surplus goodyears and It only rubbed at full lock or turning pretty hard over a bump. I can't amagine a 38.5X11 would be a problem with 6 inches of lift.
Don't be afraid of trimming body if it has some minor rubbing. I think the bushwaker cutout flares are sweet looking on these trucks
Speaking from experience. My '78 F250 has what appears to be the 3.5" lift from rough country on the front. On the street it runs 38x15.5" SS TSL's with out rubbing. It looks like it will hit the front corner of the fender if I turn and hit a curb. Take a look in my gallery for some pics.
