so i went out to start the truck yesterday and it started real rough- took 4 or 5 tries to get it goin and once it was runnin it took a while for all of the cylinders to catch. It sounds like i've got a noisy lifter, but i cant tell if its my imagination and the crack in the manifold is just worse. The wierd thing is that the day before it ran fine, no noise. then yesterday, it started making the noise from startup. Any ideas what could have caused this? I changed the oil about 5 days ago and used 10w-30. what wieght do yall use in your trucks? should i try something heavier?
nope. once she was running she ran fine. just a little noisier. i dont think i'm imagining this becuase while going down the road if i let of the gas a bit the noise from the cracked exhaust manifold will go down but the other "ticking" is still there. I had this happend to me before on a chebby 350, but it happened under HARD acceleration. The truck just sat overnight and started rough the next day! Course, on the 350, when i changed the oil it went away after a while... maybe i should try a heavier oil.
