flames

The original stock white paint on my f150 is starting to rust (surface and body) and i am thinking about painting it black. I want to get some flames on it, nothing too elaborate. would you reccomend me doing the flames myself, or going to the shop, and if so how much would it cost me?

Depends on your level of experience. I've seen a lot of crappy flame jobs, but I've also seen some good home-done jobs. Take your time, and spend 90% of the time prepping, 10% of the time actually painting.
I had a complete repaint, with a new color, hail damage fix, and some dents fixed, and it ran me $6500. It aint cheap!

Re: flames

You could cheat like I did. I painted mine flat black to match all the panels while working out the mechanical side, to give it a little something extra I put gloss black flames. I used a a peel and stick flame template that is sized according to the supplied dimensions. For what it saved me in time and frustration I think it was worth it.
