volt/ohm meters

It appears I'll need at least a volt/ohm meter and vacuum pump/guage to really service my 90 F150 correctly. So what is the best...volt/ohm meter or these multi-meters I see? I'm cheap...but want something as reliable as my 20-year old tach. Any feedback is appreciated

Lets state the differences first;A VOM is an analog type{needle swing} meter,a DMM is a digital type meter. You can gather codes from the computer with a VOM but not a DMM{unless the DMM has audible check}.A decent VOM will cover everything, including diode checks by simply reversing the connections. The MAIN thing I like about a DMM is the ability to view a component that is not showing a steady reading by the fluctuation of the digits on the display, indicating an unbalance,no matter how small it is.VOM's have a "buffer" I guess that holds the needle steady over a certain range, making it seem as if the component is not "falling out".Check out Sears,Radio Shack,Ace,Home Depot, etc. for pricing/availability.
