I have a '65 with a 302V8 I am currently rebuilding. The front seal on my small case FMX tranny has been slightly leaking for awhile and what better time to replace the front seal on the FMX.
Can anyone tell me how to replace this seal? I can see the shaft coming out of the tranny and the seal is pressed into a part that has four bolts securing this part to the tranny.
What is this part? Can I just take this part off and take it to a transmission shop and have them replace this seal?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The part that the round seal pushes into is the front pump, make sure its
not leaking around the front pump gasket. The round seal is the converter
seal.
As for replacing the seal I have drove a small bladed screw driver in it being
careful not to mess up the in side of the seal seat, and pry out, also I put
a little sealer around the new one when installing it.
