FMX Speedo solution?

I have a '71 F-250. I removed the trans that was in it and put in an FMX that came out of a Mustang, I was told. I have finally gotten to the point where I can get the dash functioning but the existing speedo cable was almost the same on both ends, doesn't fit the FMX, and the cable on the FMX was cut... It has 19(?) teeth on the gear and I'm trying to figure how I can get a cable that will mate with the speedo and the gear. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.

Speedometer cable

Google "speedometer cable custom". I just checked, I am sure you will find a source.

This is a representation of what I have. This is the end of the cable that we removed from the FMX transmission.

Common ford input cable end and some GM products use it.

Look like the standard ford with c6 if I remember right.

This is what's in my 205 TFC but screws on

Two typical arrangements. Clamp on(like you show--which common to say a toploader 3 or 4spd), and the thread on style(like a C6).

You should be able to buy a new cable from any of the truck restoration parts catalogs. The end on the speedometer side is common, just the end for transmission changes. I've been through this when I took C6 out of my '69 and installed toploader 4spd.

The plastic gears are also pretty generic and will fit either cable styles.

Yeah, I got the FMX out of a Mustang (I was told, the car was being modified to a manual transmission), and my 351W came out of a '82 Econoline, I think.

I will, should get the stuff by end of the month. (btw, I was very interested to check out the guntruck videos. I'm not sure why I was not acquainted with that form of convoy protection. The artwork on the trucks reminded me of WWII Bombers. And I was interested to see the different variations of truck modifications, from the basic steel sheeting to putting the hull of APCs on the back of Deuce and a half chassis).

Aw a 5ton cargo carried the heavier gun boxes. In late 68 we stopped using all 2.5 ton gun trucks as they could not keep up with the 5 toner going up the mountain passes.
Those 5toner with an APC were white knuckle driving as they were so top heavy trucks they rock & rolled pretty bad.
Many times the 5toner were way over loaded an needed a push to make it up the mountain pass.

One time while still driving a 5ton cargo the trip ticket showed a wt. of 53,500lbs then if you miss a split shift you roll to a fast stop have go up in low under unless the rear truck come up an pushes you so you can shift into low over just to keep it moving.

Sure glad we never got hit on the pass like many of the other Gp. convoys that did coming down with a 500 gal. fuel tankers. as they would jackknife an go all over the place on fire with a empty tank of JP4 fuel.

A duce was okay as long as it stayed in a convoy of other duce cargos.

Looking at the difference between a 2.5 & a 5ton the Fuel tanks on the other same for the fender mount air filter.

Copy that. At one time, for a construction job, I drove a 5,000 gal water truck on a GI 6by and with that tank full it could get really squirrelly on uneven ground. I'll take a closer look next time I check the vids.

Is the wrong part... Sending back the 47-2022 and ordered a 47-2030. Hopefully this one has the correct end... The 2022 has a half-round cable/rod end at the transmission end and I need the barrel type... I'll let you know how it turns out.

Hooray! I received the 47-2030 speedo cable from LMC Truck.com about a week ago and it has been successfully installed on my '71 F-250 with an FMX transmission. My 45 year old speedometer is working again.
