Hi everyone, thanks for taking on another new guy.
I have several different makes of vehicles, and try to do my own maint. when I can. I also try to realize when I can't!!
I am thinking about aquiring a mid 80's F250 w/plow as a secondary vehicle, it runs and drives ok but needs an oil pump.
The guy told me that this happens when the doughnut in the exhaust goes out and heats up the oil pan and causes sludge to build up in the pan and plugs up the screen, taking out the pump.
Is this a common thing, he said that this has happened before.
I believe that it has a 351w or m, not sure.
How hard is this going to be to do, do I have to pull the motor or just lift it up to get the pan off?
I will buy a manual if I get the truck, just want to get an idea what I'm getting into.
Sorry if this is a stupid ?
mike
